Paul Wieczorek Match (TPC v TS&SC) 3rd May 2026
In aid of Mount Edgecombe Hospice

This was the 2nd annual match between the Social Club and the Petanque club. 
 

This, primarily social game, but with a big spirit of competition, had 18 players per club using all 6 pistes. Whilst the club teams were chosen and given a number – who they played against and on what piste was set prior the teams being given a number, therefore it was random.
 

TPC provided the boules and the banter with SSC players started at this point!
 

The weather did mainly hold out despite some very black clouds slowly passing over and we all had a fun afternoon (games started around 2.30pm onto 5.30pm). This was followed by a delicious Chicken Curry (by Phil) and beverages inside and on the terrace of the Club at the end of the games. A raffle was held, with many varied items donated by all concerned!
 

Regarding the results – TPC teams won more matches than the social club (12 to 6) with many having a close score.
 

The winning team 3 wins and +28 points was from TPC – Vicky, Terry and Kay.
 

The best Social Club team – with 2 wins and + 5points were Ray, Rabbit and John.
 

Thank you to all who helped and took part especially those who had not played before. It was a special occasion, and £375 was raised for Mount Edgecome Hospice. We also remembered Alan and Jane Lovatt, who are no longer with us.
