Golden Ball Event 2025

 Golden Boule Competition 2025

Held on the 12th July 2025 

This was the first annual Club competition held to mark the occasion of the official opening of the pistes on the 24th of July 2024. 

Entered were 10 no double teams and our playing officers ( The “Icky’s”) had devised that all pistes were used and that each team played a different team over the 4 no games. 

A purpose made trophy was skilfully made by Terry Howard, this to be kept at the club, it has a “Golden Boule” at it’s apex- with real 23ct gold leaf. Very impressive. 

The weather was very hot – some respite was enabled by 2no large umbrellas being erected, and standing in the shade of the trees near the path. 

The games were timed at 40minutes starting at 2pm and finishing by 5.30pm. The competition was closely contested and scored by the number of wins and then points difference in the games. 

Overall the results were:- 

P.R & N.J Tombs – 4 wins and a points difference of +19 points. 

S. Mackenzie & K. Kingsley-Heath – 4wins and +14 points. 

A. Cotton & V. Howard – 3 wins and +7points. 

Phil, from the Social club, had a BBQ ready at the end of the games which was enjoyed, along with refreshing drinks, and a deserved sit down by many of the players.  

It is intended that we have the next Golden Boule event in July 2026.
